I have been saying for close to 3 years now that we're not going after the big money with these new taxes. In my opinion billions of tax revenue is being lost in several key areas: 1. Abuse of the principal residence exemption - where the principal income earner is buying and putting homes in multiple names as principal residences. Later they can sell these homes and pay zero capital gains tax. 2. These homes are being purchased with money that has not been taxed in Canada 3. Sellers who are assigning pre-sale condos but not declaring the capital gains or profit to CRA
